> A Career of Firsts
Nexus pioneered many of the features most systems have today and innovated beyond the norm. countless times.
In 2009 Nexus became the first scrap metal software which automated contextual, event-based camera image capturing; making it so users never have to do any manual processes to take pictures.
In 2009 Nexus became (and still mostly is) the only scrap software to not charge for individual modules or features, giving customers everything they need to run their business for one price.
In 2009 Nexus became the first entirely paperless, live-data scrap metal software system.
In 2009 Nexus invented the 'daily activity log'; a way for yard owners to monitor and track everything that happens in the software, who did it, what computer they were on when they did it, what they did and when. This feature has been used to find, eliminate and prosecute people who commit theft and fraud in a scrap yard and has lead to tens of millions of dollars in recovered funds.
In 2010 Nexus was the first company to contact all legislators, consolidate scrap laws and put them in one place on the internet and was referenced and cited in magazines (especially National Geographic) and local and network news stations (including Fox and CNN).
In 2010 Nexus (and still is) the first scrap software to work with ANY scale out of the box without requiring any scale-specific setup whatsoever. We developed auto-stream sensing/analyzation algorithms which "figure out" on their own how to read any scale.
In 2011 Nexus became (and still is) the only scrap metal program to multi-cast scale data to the entirety of all Nexus software systems, making scales readable even if they aren't network connected.
In 2015 Nexus was the first scrap software (and is still one of the few) able to reliably and accurately extract information from a drivers license - every time using our custom barcode scanners and software to decode the 2D barcode on drivers licenses, instead of relying on awfully clunky and unreliable OCR scanners.
In 2015 Nexus was the first scrap software which had automatic lookup access to the Ohio Department of Homeland Security's do not buy list (as they had not even finished developing the system for other platforms).
In 2016 Nexus invented technology to allow you to leave your facility with a tablet, go into no-internet areas and still do tickets offline.
In 2017 Nexus became the only scrap software to have automated IT / network support systems built in. Nexus can find, test and diagnose any device and network issues automatically, eliminating the need for costly support.
In 2017 Nexus became the only multi-language scrap metal software system.
In 2018 is the first and only recycling software with artificial intelligence / automated scale systems which require no human intervention or operation. After successfully being developed alongside, and utilized by the City of Los Angeles for their waste and refuse vehicles since 2018, Nexus now contains a miniaturized version of their AI software free for all Nexus customers.
In 2020 Nexus became the only scrap metal software to support unlimited cameras and unlimited scales all at once.
In 2021 Nexus created the 'context-aware' help button, allowing every button in the software to launch a tutorial on how that feature works, to enable users to learn on their own at any time.
In 2024, Nexus released the most innovative change to recycling software to come out of the last decade. Nexus PLURAL which is the closest to a Zero-UI concept as any scrap software has ever come. It also became the first scrap software to offer a birds-eye view of your scrap yard.
> Leading the industry since 2009
Nexus was written in 2009 originally as a one-off project for a recycling client in Fort Myers, Florida. The client couldn't find a suitable recycling software and asked us to step in and make
the decision for him. After interviewing nearly every major recycling system at the time, we gave him our answer: "don't buy any of them".
Our explanation was simple: "Would you get surgery from someone who wasn't a doctor?"; because nearly every platform in the scrap industry is just that -- software, owned and operated by people who don't know how to write or design software and have never written a single line of code in their lives.
Most of the other recycling systems, both then, and now, have been proven time and time again to be slow, unreliable and expensive.

> What's the catch?
Since 2009: We're 1/4 of the cost. We don't charge for support. We don't make you pay per module, forcing you to decide between what you need and what you can afford...
The reason is simple -- we don't have to.
We don't have outsourced developer and support teams to pay. We don't have to fix design flaws that have existed for 5, 10, 20, 30 years; because we are actual software engineers and we program everything in-house and we do things right the first time. We have no expensive development costs because we write our own code right here in Los Angeles, California.

> What about reliability?
Cloud-based technologies are the cheapest and easiest to maintain.
That's why the other scrap software systems are built this way, but not Nexus.
Compared to traditional client-server architecture, cloud-based systems are also the slowest, least efficient and don't work in places where you don't have top-tier internet. Which is why Nexus isn't cloud based.
Fast internet? Great! Slow internet? Great! No internet? Great! Nexus isn't affected either way.
You don't need internet to run our system and whether you have reliable internet or not, your business will experience no difference in service.

> What about support?
Since 2009, we have installed over 850 Nexus systems. We've encountered essentially every issue that can come up during that time.
We have built diagnostic and repair tools directly into Nexus which lowered our call volume down 96% compared to our first few years in business.
Nexus will tell you when your left can scale camera is responding too slow and needs a reboot.
Nexus will tell you when your network is experiencing issues and tell you exactly how to fix it.
Nexus will even alert you if your signature pad needs to be recalibrated and how to solve it.
Nearly every issue that can occur, and how to solve it has been coded into Nexus and nine times out of ten you will never need to call us to solve any issue that occurs.
Software issues are all covered under warranty, at no cost to you. You can call, text, e-mail or fill out a support ticket within Nexus and we'll handle everything for you -- free of charge.
